PROJECTS UNDER THE CLEAN DEVELOPMENT MECHANISM
The Republic of Panama, approved the Kyoto Protocol of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, pursuant Law No.88 as of November 30th 1998, which became in force in February 16, 2005.
Upon that moment, the National Environment Authority, through its Climate Change Unit has developed the regulations and proceedings to enforce projects under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), the parties to the convention may implement projects that reduce emissions and use the resulting certified emission reductions (CERs), which are commercialized to developed countries which emissions quota exceeded the limits set in the Convention.
